The following table shows all of the bird species recorded on the wildlife site since 2013.
You can click on the species name for more information, including comments on our observations and photographs taken on the wildlife site, where we have them.
Some of our favourite birds such as long-tailed tits and great spotted woodpeckers are observed and photographed on feeders in Downlee Lodge garden. It should be possible to attract some of these birds into your garden by providing suitable feeders.
The wildlife site is a hotspot for visiting curlew and lapwing. These more endangered species require special habitat that can only be provided in open countryside. We encourage these species by providing the right conditions and avoid disturbing them by observing and photographing them from a distance using binoculars, telescopes and cameras with telephoto lenses. At some times of year you may be able to hear and see these species from the public footpath adjacent to the railway line (see Map), particularly if you have binoculars.
