Although large numbers of Starlings (Sturnus vulgaris) are still present in the UK, they are on the Amber list of Birds of Conservation Concern because the breeding population has decreased by more than 80% over the past 50 years. Flocks of over 1000 have been seen feeding on fields in the Wildlife Site but we usually see smaller flocks, often in Fields 3, 4 and 5, feeding with other birds, see the one with the Lapwing in the photograph. Flocks of Starlings are seen here at most times of year except in summer while the grass is long.
