The Kingfisher (Alcedo atthis) is Amber Listed and also legally protected under UK Schedule 1. We have only seen and photographed a kingfisher once at Downlee Lodge. In September 2019 a female kingfisher crashed into a window and appeared to be dead. After an hour of loving care, she recovered and was released by the stream that runs through Downlee Lodge garden.
