Trees & Shrubs

At least thirty-five different species of trees and shrubs can be seen on and around the wildlife site, in the open fields, in hedgerows, along field boundaries, in wooded field corners (Map 1) and in the orchard (Map2). In addition, a variety of ornamental and fruit trees and bushes have been planted in the orchard and gardens around Downlee Lodge. Some of the trees are very old and others have been planted during the last 20 years.

Below are photographs of some of the different species taken around the site and some of their flowers and fruit that are attractive to wildlife.
