Buddleia (Buddleia davidii), also known as Butterfly Bush, is not a native plant but this popular garden plant has become widely naturalized in the UK. Its familiar drooping and dense clusters of small flowers that bloom June-October are very attractive to insects and particularly to butterflies. There are Buddleia bushes in Field Corners W3, W4 and in the Orchard and garden at Downlee Lodge. These act as a magnet to a variety of butterflies and allow a quick and convenient assessment of whether particular species are in the area.
