Rowan (Sorbus aucuparia) also known as Mountain Ash is an upright, elegant but robust tree that has distinctive leaves, attractive flowers in late spring and striking bunches of bright red berries that are eaten by birds, particularly birds of the thrush family in autumn. There are two Rowan trees in Field Corner W2, next to the public footpath at the top of Field 2 and others in Downlee Lodge garden and orchard.
