Common Valerian (Valariana officinalis) is not very common. It is classified as near threatened on the Vascular Plant Red List for England. It is a tall plant with rounded clusters of pale pink flowers in June-August, which are attractive to insects. A few Common Valerian may be seen near the footpath at the top of hayfield, Field 2, and rarely in the wet rush pasture, Field 3.
