Cowslip (Primula veris) occur in the wildflower meadow at Downlee Lodge in April to May. Up to about 2015 they were rare here but since then they have been gradually increasing in number.
Primrose (Primula vulgaris) is less common here than its Latin name suggests. It occurs only at the base of a few trees in the orchard at Downlee Lodge. The Primrose is always a welcome sight as a herald of Spring.
