Sorrel (Rumex acetosa) is a member of the Dock family that is frequent in the haymeadows, Fields 1 and 2. It has reddish green flowers that turn to red fruit. It is sufficiently abundant to give a reddish tint to the hay meadows in June. Sorrel is a foodplant for the Small Copper butterfly caterpillar and seed eating birds.
